An Iconic New York City Wedding at Cipriani 42nd Street

Few places match the magic and grandeur of a New York City wedding. As a photographer, I’ve had the honor of capturing weddings in some of the most iconic locations, but this romantic wedding weekend was truly one for the books. This iconic Cipriani 42nd Street wedding, featured Croatian traditions, an abundance of elegant decor and classic architecture.

Rehearsal Dinner and Welcome Party

The festivities kicked off with an intimate rehearsal dinner at the charming New York restaurant, Arno. Friends and family gathered to toast the bride and groom, setting the tone for a weekend filled with love and celebration. The lively welcome party followed, complete with music, dancing, and the joyful anticipation of the big day ahead.

A Traditional Croatian First Look

Following Croatian tradition, the couple opted for a family-centered, celebratory first look. The groom arrived at the bride’s parents’ house in a party bus, bringing along the entire bridal party. The bride’s family enjoyed drinks, food, and the joyous tunes of a folklore band as they eagerly awaited the first look on the lawn. Before the bride made her grand appearance, her father presented a friend, dressed in a white dress, in her place as a lighthearted practical joke. This humorous moment was a perfect way to welcome the groom to the family! Finally, as the bride stepped out, the family celebrated with blue, white, and red smoke—the colors of Croatia—on the side. It was a sentimental moment that will be remembered forever. Afterwards, everyone loaded into their designated transportation and headed to the church in New York City for the ceremony.

A Full Mass with a Grand Exit

Following the first look, the day continued with a full mass ceremony at the stunning St. Cyril & Methodius Croatian Catholic Church. The church, with its beautiful architecture, provided the perfect setting for the couple to exchange their vows. The After the ceremony, the newlyweds made a grand exit from the church, surrounded by the cheers and well-wishes of family and friends, along with live music.

Bridal Portraits in Central Park and Grand Station

Before heading to the reception, the entire bridal party made their way to Central Park, for portraits, followed by Bride and Groom portraits in and around Grand Central Station. The lush greenery of the park and iconic architecture provided a picturesque backdrop for a quintessential New York City wedding day. They were a perfect locations for the bridal portraits in heart of the city they love.

The Iconic Reception at Cipriani 42nd Street

As evening fell, the celebration moved to the iconic Cipriani 42nd Street. In the heart of Manhattan, Cipriani 42nd Street was the perfect choice for this romantic, elegant reception. This historic venue, showcases a Byzantine-inspired design that is nothing short of breathtaking. As guests stepped into the grand space, they were greeted by soaring ceilings, intricate inlaid floors, and stunning decor.

The reception hall was transformed into a romantic setting with candles and white flowers. Each table featured elegant floral arrangements and soft candlelight, creating an intimate atmosphere. Uplighting added a warm glow, highlighting the intricate details of the décor. Meanwhile, a full band on stage played lively music, seamlessly keeping the dance floor energetic and guests engaged throughout the celebration.

A Night to Remember

As the night progressed, the dance floor became the heart of the celebration. The bride’s second dress by Galia Lahav set the tone for the rest of the reception—sparkling, fun, and chic. The bride and groom spent most of their night on the dance floor, celebrating with Croatian-styled dances and traditions, surrounded by the people they love. Later on, we snuck away for some iconic New York City night portraits in front of Grand Central. The energy felt electric, creating a special moment for the newlyweds.
