When deciding on Stephanie and Karl’s engagement session location they knew they wanted to have the Gov. Cuomo Bridge in the background so we chose to capture their session at Tarrytown Riverwalk. Let me just say, I’m so glad we had an outdoor session because nature decided to show out. We got a once in a lifetime surprise towards the end!

We began their session with with walking around a quieter area of the park. I personally like to get my couples comfortable in front of the camera and this area of the park allowed for just that. The reason I like to do this is because most of the time for my couples, an engagement session is their first professional photography session together. With having simple but natural poses without much distraction is one of the best ways to warm up to being in front of a camera.

Afterwards, we headed towards the riverwalk. Stephanie and Karl’s sweet blonde pup, Luna, made an appearance in more pictures with her mom and dad. I think her favorite part of the session was the Woof Gang dog treats. For me, my favorite part was the Syracuse collar they bought her to tie in where they met. (They have been dating for 13 years since then!) It’s truly little details like this that make sessions and wedding days unique.

The variety of backdrops that Tarrytown Riverwalk were endless, but one backdrop in particular that was unreal was the rainbow that made a debut. It started out as a lightly faded rainbow and then turned into an incredible full rainbow! There are even some images we were able to capture where you begin to see a second rainbow to the right trying to appear. It was truly a once in a lifetime engagement session moment!
