Steffany and Garrett have one of the best “how they met” stories! Garrett lived in New York, but was working in Colombia. They were introduced by a mutual friend in 2018. Fast forward to 2020 when they were living in DC together, Garrett proposed.
They got married in Saugerties NY, local to where Garrett grew up, and coincidently, Steffany’s family would vacation for decades. Small world! They had an intimate wedding of about 50 people. They got ready at Diamond Mills Hotel, traveled to the church for the ceremony, then back to the venue for cocktail hour and the reception. Steffany’s family traveled from Colombia to celebrate their wedding, while many of Garrett’s family were local to the area.
They got married at a small church, which perfectly accommodated their wedding. The florist decorated the space by adding gorgeous pastel florals to the altar. The priest, who happen to be one of Garretts High School’s teachers, was very personable and friendly. He made sure to individually greet and hug each family and bridal party member. He made their ceremony incredibly special!
When doing their bride and groom portraits, we did some overlooking the waterfall, then, it being a spring April wedding, we had to include some cherry blossoms! The cherry blossoms were only in the parking lot, however, with the right angles, we were able to avoid the cars and capture the bride and groom’s beauty and happiness surrounded by the blossoms.
Diamond Mills is a beautiful venue located between the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains, in the historic village of Saugerties, New York. It overlooks a beautiful waterfall, which makes a beautiful scenic backdrop for a wedding. The venue has a staircase that overlooks the water. We took advantage of this for many bride and groom and bridal party pictures!
