During the height of the pandemic, Barbara spent a lot of time walking the grounds of the New York Botanical Gardens. After getting engaged to Shayan, she looked into if they do weddings – and they do! The New York Botanical Gardens, located at 2900 Southern Blvd in Bronx, New York has two venues. They chose to hold their ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception at Stone Mill. At Stone Mill there is a pathway filled with greenery the leads to a terrace that overlooks the Bronx River. This is where the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dancing after dinner were held! This Stone Mill New York Botanical Garden wedding was a beautiful and peaceful space.
Barbara and Shayan chose to do a first look before their ceremony. This is a great way to complete a lot of pictures! We did their first look in front of beautiful conifer trees, then walked around for portraits, and ended in the rose garden. Then the ceremony started, it was so unique and personal I loved it so much! It was a multicultural ceremony with Catholic, Presbyterian, and Persian elements to it. The ceremony featured a traditional Persian Sofreh Aghd, which is a Persian marriage table. This table was gorgeous and so intricate! Each object on it symbolized a different meaning. For example, it had honey, which Barbara and Shayan fed to each other during the ceremony, as a symbol to sweeten the marriage. They were also sprinkled with sugar, another element to sweeten their marriage!
The reception was held indoors, where Barbara and Shayan had their first dance, a fantastic dance set with everyone, speeches, and cake cutting. After the formalities were complete, and dinner was over, everyone went back downstairs to the terrace for dancing and dessert. While the reception was going on, string lights were installed over the terrace! This makes for a beautiful ambiance and adds a huge element to the pictures.
