What To Wear To Your Spring Engagement | Natalie + Matt

Natalie and Matt’s Spring engagement session was so beautiful. The cherry blossom trees are now in full bloom and I am loving it! These two had been together over 8 years before Matt popped the big question, on Halloween night! They will be getting married at the Bourne Mansion in Long Island in October 2022, and I know it’s going to be an amazing day! Natalie and Matt are two of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet!

They chose to do their engagement session at the iconic Brooklyn Botanic Garden, right in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. A place they also call home!

One thing I noticed about Natalie and Matt was their outfits! While walking around the gardens, everyone was congratulating them and asking Natalie if she was a bride – it was clear the way her white dress was sparking in the sun that it was an important occasion!

I wanted to share a little bit about what you can wear to your spring engagement session along with some tips! If you are someone who is struggling on picking out an engagement session outfit, scroll down below for more!

01. COLORS

The colors you choose for your engagement session outfit can impact many things. Colors can impact the overall mood and feel of the photos. So be sure to pick colors that you know you love on yourself and will show up good on camera. For spring, neutrals and pastels are always the way to go!

02. COMFORT

Comfort is key! Always wear something you know is comfortable. Photoshoots consist of a lot of walking and posing so wear shoes you know are comfy (or bring a change of flats if you’re wearing heels) and clothing that isn’t too tight and restricting. I recommend wearing something flowy, breathable and lightweight for spring time! A flowy dress always gives a romantic vibe and is fun to toss around in pictures too!

03. WEATHER

We always check the weather prior to the session date to avoid any surprises. If it looks like it is going to rain when we are supposed to take your engagement photos, we will postpone to another day.

To prepare for your session, it can help to bring an extra jacket, pair of shoes, or depending on the time of year – bug spray, sunscreen, or hand warmers!

kind words

“I cannot even begin to recommend Siobhan enough. She completely blew it out of the water photographing our rehearsal dinner and wedding day. She’s professional, and highly talented, and helped us feel at ease all through our wedding day. She’s been so amazing about sharing sneak peeks from our wedding with us (it was less than a week ago! )and so far it’s left us — and our families — completely speechless. She captured the most special moments and everyone’s personality in each photo. Everyone we spoke to at our wedding has mentioned how wonderful she was and we couldn’t agree more! We can’t wait to hire her again.”
