Whitby Castle Wedding

Laura and Stephen’s wedding took place at Whitby Castle in Rye, New York. From getting ready to saying their vows to dancing with guests on the dance floor, Laura and Stephen had a blast during every moment of their wedding day.

As a wedding photographer, I obviously get to be a part of a lot of wedding days. Some days are higher stress than others. Some days are much more fast-paced. And, of course, there is nothing wrong with that. But, I can honestly say that Laura and Stephen’s entire day was one of the most relaxed. Everyone was so calm and grateful to be present. It was evident that everyone was truly supportive of Laura and Stephen and happy to celebrate them.

Before Laura and Stephen shared their first look, they read letters that they wrote for one another. This is one of my favorite things that couples do on their wedding day. Even if the bride or groom aren’t the most romantic couple, there is still something so special about having a handwritten letter from someone you love. Plus, reading a letter from the person you’re about to marry (and even do a first look with) makes for even more anticipation to see your soon-to-be spouse!

After all of their portraits, Laura and Stephen had a room reveal of their reception. This honestly is another one of my favorite new trends that couples are doing on their wedding day. As a couple, you schedule time in the day to see your completely decorated reception space before guests arrive and fill the room. It’s a time you’re able to see all your planning efforts truly come to life.

Once Laura an Stephen said “I do!” on the lawn of Whitby Castle, guests made their way to cocktail hour. Following cocktail hour, was the introduction of the wedding party into the main festivities for the evening. The wedding party were true hype men and women during their introductions!

The night went on in traditional wedding fashion. Dinner, cake cutting, dancing, and a few more couple portraits for good measure. Laura and Stephen’s wedding day was a most perfect day and I’m honored they chose me as their wedding photographer!
