Mackenzie and Brian’s May wedding was one for the books! In fact, I do not know how I managed to cull through their wedding gallery to share a glimpse of all the laughter, dancing, and beauty that took place on their wedding day. Somehow I did though and I’m excited to finally have their wedding live on my blog.
One thing is evident, Mackenzie loves color and she brought her love for color into her wedding design with all the spring pastels. From oranges, to pinks, to blues, to yellows, her design looked effortless and was weaved into every detail throughout the day.
In addition to incorporating Mackenzie’s love for color, Mackenzie and Brian also wanted to incorporate their cultures into their day. They accomplished this in two ways. First, they honored Brian’s Chinese culture by giving custom chopsticks as favors to each of their guests. Secondly, Mackenzie had a dress change after the ceremony where she changed into a Vietnamese Ao Dai. Both dresses she had custom made by Vietnamese designer, Thai Nguyen, and they were flawless.
Also important to them was that their guests enjoy the evening and never have a dull moment. So, after the ceremony, guests sipped drinks and munched appetizers while they enjoyed lawn games. The cocktail hour also highlighted Muffin, Brian’s 17-year-old Maltese, whom Mackenzie says is his other love of his life. Muffin had cocktail napkins with his face on them along with his face making an appearance on other elements throughout the night like, for example, the grooms cake topper.
For the reception, the photobooth and lawn games continued, but they also hired a live wedding painter. They even had a saxophone player who played alongside the DJ on a couple of songs. It is without a doubt one of my favorite ways to incorporate live music into a wedding reception.
It’s true that their guests had a blast! The groomsmen never left the dance floor once it officially opened. And while I’m talking about groomsmen, I must add that Mackenzie and Brian’s wedding party was truly a lot of fun.
Mackenzie and Brian’s wedding day was everything they planned it to be and more, and I’m honored they chose me to be their wedding photographer.
