As a wedding photographer, I get to capture some of life’s most beautiful and long awaited moments. Morrin and Henry’s wedding at the Westchester Country Club in Rye, New York, was no exception. Morrin’s parents have been long-time members of the club, making it a deeply meaningful place for their family. When it came time to choose a venue, the Westchester Country Club was a no-brainer. From the first look to the final dance, every detail was filled with love and sentiment.
The Morning Preparations and First Look
The day started with the usual wedding preparations. The bridal party got ready in the club’s specialty designed suites – a perfect place for bridal portraits. Morrin looked absolutely stunning in her Caroline Castigliano gown, adorned with intricately cut floral embroidery appliqué. Her bouquet held a special charm—a photo of her late father, who passed away in 2018. This small but meaningful detail ensured he was with her in spirit.
Since I have had the pleasure of shooting at the venue many times, I know which locations have the best views and backgrounds. Morrin and Henry had their first look on the terrace overlooking the 1st and 18th holes. After their emotional first look, we moved to the iconic bandshell and then to the main hallway with its classic black-and-white floor. These locations were perfect for capturing beautiful bride and groom portraits and the essence of the country club.
The Emotional Ceremony
The ceremony took place at Church of the Resurrection nearby the club and was deeply emotional for all who attended. Morrin’s mother walked her down the aisle, a moment filled with tears and joy. A memorial candle for Morrin’s father was placed on the altar, a beautiful tribute to his memory. His absence was felt, but the joy of their union radiated throughout the ceremony.
After the ceremony, the bridal party hopped on a trolley and headed back to the club. Before joining the cocktail hour, Morrin, Henry, and I slipped away to a family friend’s apartment in the hotel for a few newlywed portraits. The view of the golf course was spectacular and a perfect backdrop for photos.
Reception in the Biltmore Ballroom
Originally, the reception was planned to be outdoors. However, a passing rain shower and the day’s high temperatures prompted a change. The celebration moved indoors to the Biltmore Ballroom, adding an extra layer of elegance. Once the weather cleared, guests were able to enjoy the terrace, creating a elegant indoor-outdoor atmosphere.
The reception decor was exquisite with classic blue and coral hues throughout. Morrin’s wedding cake mirrored the intricate details of her dress, making it a statement piece. The band was absolutely incredible, and the dance floor was electric! It was the perfect atmosphere for capturing joy-filled candids. The love shared among family and friends was evident in every photo.
An Unforgettable Celebration
Morrin and Henry’s wedding at the Westchester Country Club was filled with beautiful moments, heartfelt tributes, and timeless elegance. Capturing these memories was an honor. From the first look on the terrace to the last dance in the ballroom, it was a celebration of two lives coming together, surrounded by their loved ones.
Cheers to forever, Morrin and Henry!
